Information Communication and Learning Technologies (ICLT) in Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wagga Wagga is supported by a team of professional personnel based at McAlroy House in Wagga Wagga and the Slattery Catholic Centre in Albury.
With a mix of educational and commercial backgrounds, the ICLT team provides a wealth of technical knowledge which focusses on education-centred solutions to support the ICLT requirements of our Catholic Schools.
By closely linking both the learning and technology goals of our organisation, a strategic approach to ICLT is achieved, providing the required ICLT for increased learning opportunities within schools.
The ICLT infrastructure deployed within the Diocese of Wagga Wagga complements our association with CEnet. Our membership as a founding Diocese in the CEnet initiative provides numerous benefits to individual schools, as well as the Diocese as a whole.
All primary and secondary schools within our system, along with administrative offices, are connected to a secure Virtual Private Network, delivering increased efficiencies in resource sharing between sites, and providing a platform for support and development.
With all geographical locations connected to broadband in May 2006, the capacity of our network provides increased capabilities for future ICT requirements in the service of learning and learning management.
The Catholic Schools Office has provided a new facility for our schools' public websites which enables schools to publish content themselves. Trialling took place during 2005 and implementation occurred during 2006 and 2007.
As part of our commitment to education, the Catholic Schools Office hosts work placement students from our high schools and TAFE within the ICLT team, providing them with invaluable additional learning opportunities. Work placement participants gain practical experience with ICLT and their experience of operations within a large organisation helps to prepare them for future learning and employment endeavours.
